Today was supposed to be the showing of Debt of the Dictators. Needless to say, this didn't happen. And believe it or not, it's not because people didn't show up. Because they did. People showed up expecting to see this documentary and have a discussion (well, I'm not so sure it was the discussion people came for) about Millennium Development Goal number eight, debt relief.
So, why didn't we show this video? Well I show up to the room we have reserved worrying about how I'm going to figure out how to hook up the computer to the projector screen. Technology and I do not work well together. I come to discover that this is the least of my problems right now. Apparently there is a class every Tuesday from 6-9pm in the room we had reserved. In the room that we had reserved. I just wanted to reiterate that point. We have to reserve these rooms and get that reservation approved so two groups don't go walking in the door at the same time. That's what is supposed to happen.
That's my blog PMS for now.
On another note...
Check us out in today's Maneater!

And tomorrow's volleyball game is dedicated to poverty awareness! Apparently they announced this during the football game on Saturday. I must have not been paying attention.

Na Na Na BeadforLife
Hey look, I'm posting about an event that happened today.
Alright, I have to admit it's only because I'm procrastinating studying for my two tests tomorrow.
Today was the kick-off of Poverty Awareness Week on Mizzou's campus. We started off with a day of tabling and getting the word about our events this week as well as selling BeadforLife jewelry. This is our second year doing a BeadforLife event and MU absolutely eats it up. It's awesome.
We got quite a few people signed up for our email list and even more people excited about the week.
From there it was off to Hickman High School to talk with their Global Issues group. A reporter and a photographer from the Maneater came along for the ride as well.
Since the kids at Hickman have so many organizations and the faculty is already stretched too thin, rather than creating a ONE group at the school, we have decided it best to work with an organization already in place working towards the same goals as ONE.
I got the opportunity to talk with the students and introduce ONE Mizzou and what we are doing. Then I threw out some ideas for possible events we could work on together and possibly with other surrounding high schools. We will definitely be working with this group of students in the future.
I have more tests to procrastinate studying for.
That means there will probably be another post tomorrow.

Game On
I'll be the first to admit it. This year has gotten off to a slow start for ONE Mizzou. Especially with the launch of the ONE Campus Challenge. We're 40th right now, and that just isn't right. This time last year we were 23rd or something crazy like that. Granted, last year was the first year for the OCC and things are way more intense now. Even more reason why we should have brought our A game from the start. I'll also be the first to admit this is my fault.
But no worries. We'll catch up. Here's what's on the agenda in CoMo for the week.
Monday.
10am-2pm: tabling outside of Brady Commons. We will be selling jewelry from BeadforLife and getting people to sign some letters
3pm: Hickman High School. We will be speaking with their Global Issues group about poverty and working with them on upcoming events
Tuesday.
8pm: Screening of Debt of the Dictators and Discussion. Arts and Science 114
Wednesday.
MU Volleyball will join us in the fight against poverty. We will be publicizing our cause during the match against KU. Visit our table at the game.
Thursday.
6pm: BeadforLife party. Come and watch a short video about the beads and the women they support. After the video do some early Christmas shopping and buy some beads.
Friday.
National Poverty Awareness Day. All Day. We will be in Speaker's Circle asking people to Stand Up with us against poverty. Last year over 43 million people stood up against poverty world wide. That broke the record. This year, we're going to break it again.
Sunday.
Local Churches will be dedicating their sermons to poverty.
...so I'll be the first to admit it. GAME ON.

What I've Failed To Blog About
My roommate and I went to see Joe Biden while he was in Columbia.
And he answered my question.
And I gave him a ONE Mizzou shirt.
I know, something people would run to their computers to blog about.
Not me. I wait a month.
Here is the video my roommate, Chrissy, took of JB answering my question, "What are your and Senator Obama's plans to ensure the completion of the Millennium Development Goals?"
His answer...
