HD Gets A Wardrobe Upgrade

Yes, this is Howard Dean at the University of Missouri. Governor and Chairman of the Democratic National Committee joined the Tigers on a game day Saturday.

Young Democrats of Missouri brought Howard Dean to our campus to urge the community to get out and vote, part of his 50 State Strategy.

HD has made it his personal mission to travel around the nation, not only campaigning for his party, but getting people to the polls.

I am sad to announce that there were no yee-hahs!
I was disappointed.

After his speech about the importance of registering to vote and putting in a word or two for Obama, I made my way over to him. I bet you can only guess why.

That's right. HD adores his ONE Mizzou shirt.

After this meeting I have realized something, I need to get out there and ONE some republicans. I never hear anything about when they're going to be here. I'm on McCain's email list, but still nothing. If anyone out there knows anything, please send it my way!

The dems aren't the only ones with plans on solving extreme poverty and global AIDS.

PS, I talked to that older man in the background in the purple for a good half hour before HD came. I love making new friends.

Kind Of A Yawn

The activity fair got rescheduled from last Wednesday to this past Monday. You know we were there. We had our table set up complete with sign-ups, fliers, and a poster board with the candidates' On the Record responses to their plans to combat extreme poverty and global disease.

We got a lot of interested people signed up and everyone seemed very interested with what Obama and McCain had to say. Quite a few people confessed they had expected the board to be comparing an issue while making one candidate appear better than the other. That was the assumption they had before reading our board, obviously. Not everything in this election has to be an attack on one candidate or the other. Some things just are. Poverty needs to be solved. They both have a plan. End of discussion. No lipstick pigs here.

Anyway, so that's the recap from the activity fair. I know, not my most exciting post. I'll make up for it with the next two. I promise.

Confession

I am a horrible blogger.

I will make a valiant effort to change that this year. Please note that is not a promise.

Anyway, the second week of classes begin tomorrow as well as the truly chaotic events that make college what it is. We will be holding our first ONE meeting tomorrow night and we have an activity fair on Wednesday. I hope to post updates from both of those events.

We have a lot planned this year for ONE Mizzou, and I hope this semester really puts our organization on the map, but only time will tell. People seem to be more willing to get involved in causes at the beginning of the year, so our plan is to catch them while they're eager.

I've created a website for ONE Mizzou. It still needs a little bit of work, but it will do for now. www.onemizzou.weebly.com

I guess that's all I have for right now. I just felt I should post something since I haven't in a VERY long time. I hope my habits will change.
